Craft Metal Spinning Ltd

It has now been 12 months since we moved from Warrington to our new Widnes factory, and over that period we have become increasingly busy. Which is great news as Craft Metal Spinning Ltd continues to go from strength to strength.

As our production is on the up we continue to keep lead times to a minimum, without compromising on quality. Craft Metal Spinning ltd was formed in 1977 and since its inseption over three decades ago has gone on to provide services for many industries.

What is Metal spinning

As you can see from the diagram below, a circular metal blank is concentrically clamped against the spinning pattern via the centre nose and a centre wood. Whilst the pattern is driven in the by a main motorised spindle. Rotating at high speed the work piece is then formed by a spinning tool or roller following a pre set path to produce a series of strokes or passes.

A number of passes are normally needed to form the part onto the spinning pattern which also prevents premature failure through slpitting or buckling.

Another variation of this process is called Shear forming and is normally used to make cone shapes as only one pass is needed.
